Comments
Comments: We wore spikes up to just beyond East Peak and then switched to snowshoes because the trail, as reported previously, was heavily drifted. We wore snowshoes thereafter, also finding them far superior on the butt-slid steeps, up or down. Bypass of the bypass at the chimney is scratchy but mellow. This hike is in nice shape right now for those properly equipped. We passed 10 people on the return, only one with (carrying and about to put on) snowshoes.
Rewarding hike with Chris in cold, windy conditions with magnificent views and snow-covered woods. It was surprisingly comfortable on the main summit and we briefly basked in the sun with views all around.
