Comments
Comments: Beautiful day for this loop hike up to the flat view less side of Mount Mexico down to the interesting Big Rock Cave. Some views of Mount Paugus. Trail well packed down to the caves. We used light traction although really not needed. The Whitin Brook Trail had a surprising amount of snow which previous hikers had bare booted. We should have used snowshoes but we didn’t bring them. The Cabin Trail surprising had far less snow and climbing up the Whitin Ridge there was a lot of fallen trees. Trail is not well marked but human tracks in the snow were easy to follow.
Thanks to Hannah for hiking with us. The loop was 5.8 miles with 1,578 feet of elevation gain.
