We were informed by a Wildcat worker that we would be turned around if we were seen ascending when ski patrol does a “sweep†on the Polecat trail at 8:30 AM.. this is contrary to what is posted on their website which states that you must be ascending before operations start at 8:30 AM.. luckily for us the skiing was shut down due to the high winds..we encountered deep drifts on the traverse..tracks were invisible from friends on the previous day and I’m sure our tracks (4 snowshoers) have been filled in with the high winds..expect 2’+ drifts until the intersection of 19MB...we wore snowshoes the whole day but could have taken them off at the intersection of the Carter Dome Tr and 19 MB |
