| Comments: |
I went to Pike's Peek viewpoint and back; did not attempt the summit itself. First mile in was solid packed snow easily navigated with micro spikes. Next mile was mix of the same and drifting powder, sometimes up to 6" thick. Not enough consistently to warrant snowshoes, but made for some trudging through those spots. Wind was in full force and small branches were littering the trail. Trees were moaning and creaking but no new blowdowns. Good clear view from the overlook. |
