As Marylyn Styles and AndrewD noted, the trails could use more packing out. I wore snowshoes the whole way to help consolidate it more but there were little holes everywhere. It looked like heavy bare-booters were sinking in decently even on trail.
Conditions seemed to improve through the morning. It was sunny and clear at low elevation and cloudy up top, with clouds seeming to dissipate when I descended. It was very cold and windy on South Hancock but the traverse was manageable. Some people were post-holing through drifts up there too. Thankfully, I don't think the predicted wind arrived for most of the hike. Good day out! |
