Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Skis
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Lots of rivulets and running freshets that were tough to cross on skis, mostly on the Lower Nana when it parallels the Wenenchusus.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Two of the log bridges could use a little upgrading. Snow levels are low and it’s extremely icy so there are a lot of rocks and other things that are normally buried, that make the trail tricky. We need snow at the lower elevations. Wenenchusus is in much better shape.

Comments
Comments: Decided to mix things up a bit and do some XC skiing today given the temps and the wind. Conditions were less than ideal, however. There was a dusting of new snow over the old snow, but the old snow was frozen into a solid mass of ice.

Lots of casual hikers had mucked up the ski track which was supremely annoying given the fact that it’s a wide trail and there was no need to walk in the track. The snow was also very thin, especially closer to the river. The best skiing conditions were up on the Wenenchusus which had more powder and less ice.
