Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: A huge plus is that great gulf trail is plowed and their bathrooms are open. I was able to quite literally drive up to the door. A huge relief as I had like three coffees. 19M was plowed and fine, Wildcat parking lot was too full to be a four year old and pop the E brake and do donuts. Boooo.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable)
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All crossings along the route are hoppable or bridged
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few axe worthy blowdowns on 19 mile. They have been limbed, but are currently army man crawl unders, until we get more snow
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: There actually was an Aussie out today... i'll withhold comment.

Comments: A FINE day to be in the forest. A true no nonsense day. Teamed up with Ms. Mix-a-lot for her winter list. Was greated with true NETC royalty in the parking lot. I ran into Remington34 and her two knee high shredders. We exchanged pleasnties but it was too cold to do much else. We quickly parted ways. 19M to the Carter Dome junction is hard packed and ripe for speed. After that, going towards the hut, the traffic noticibly declined. Plenty of roto tilling. I did add to it, though it was only about 2 inches of powder. Just too cold for it to truly consolidated. We made it to the junction in short order and donned snow shoes for the ascent of A, and kept them on until the parking lot. It was pretty obvious more folks going up to A are bare booting than wearing snow shoes, evident by the balls deep post holes and the steps kicked in. Snowshoes made quick work of this, despite it being an ankle rolling disaster. The ridge from A to D is unconsolidated, we got scolded by a fellow with an ice axe of which was comicly too long for his height (it had the 75CM sticker on it and he was about my height - 5'2) for wearing snowshoes as they were 'too dangerous for this trail' (he was out and backing from E... ok?). At any rate, we had a fine time on the tower with a group of a half a dozen skiers who we had a beer with and shared stories. We parted ways and because we are true rabble rousers, went down the ski trails. They did blow by us later hooting and hollering! We had snowshoes and hugged the woods and were as respectful as possible to not wreck the ski trail. No one gave us any guff, ski patrol did pass us without incident. We did get several taps on the shoulder as others went by and lots of hang tens. We truly 'earned our turn' today.
