A little slippery getting into the FS parking lot with FWD and worn snow tires. Access to iron ranger and bathrooms freshly shoveled, Coos County deputy patrolled lot while we were there. |

Trail not yet packed or set for light traction above Gem Pool. Not ideal for my Hillsound Pro's on Sorels. Marginal boot for kicking toe holds in the butt-slider polished snow; traction marginal on way down.
Recommend full crampons or rigid soled boots. Took snowshoes for naught today.
Turned around within a quarter mile of summit due to poor visibility and one of us being tired. Summit will be there next week. |
