 | Comments: |
Packed powder at the lower elevations. 2-3 inches of new snow on the higher elevation. Oak Ridge and Turtleback upper trail were lightly traveled.
Micro spikes to start, then switch over to Snowshoes on the Upper Bridle Path. We stayed with the snowshoes up and over Mt Shaw and Black Snout and the return trip to Turtleback. The remaining descent was with micro spikes.
A couple of hikers had made their way to Shaw and Black Snout with bare boots, creating sunken footprints and numerous postholes. This made traveling difficult at times, even with snowshoes.
The trail between Black Snout and Turtleback was tedious with snowshoes. We were breaking trail and sinking down 4-6 inches.
Be prepared and carry micro spikes AND Snowshoes. |
