Comments
Comments: Trail was packed nearly the entire hike. We followed a snowshoe hiker who broke the 2 - 3 inches of powdery fluff that was on the trail all the way to Passaconaway. On the Walden Trail portion of the loop down from Passaconaway we had to break trail, but going down hill in powder with traction was a lot of fun. Definitely recommend microspikes for the entire hike and polls for going down hill. Overall, a challenging ascent to Whiteface and then a very enjoyable hike through a wintery wonderland. Temps ranged from 18 in the morning to 30 when we finished. Total trail time was 5:50. Snowed the last 2 miles hiking out with sunshine coming through the trees. Magical.
