Comments
Comments: Great day for breaking trail. About 6” of wet and slightly crusty snow on 19 mile brook trail, track got packed down pretty well as we went. Snow changed to all powder of a foot or more after the intersection at Carter notch. Extremely slow going for the ascent up Wildcat A, lots of side stepping with the snowshoes in the very steep sections. The snow was deep along the ridge but was fairly easy going compared to the ascent up from the notch. Snow on ridge is very light and powdery so trail did not get packed down very well even after my group of 3 and 1 solo hiker went through. 19 mile brook trailhead lot was full when we returned so trail should be pack pretty well now.
