Comments
Comments: Absolutely beautiful day. Planned on getting just Monroe, but conditions like this warranted going for the Rockpile too. Put on the Grivel crampons about a mile in after a few tough workarounds on some early barefoot ice flows. Kept the crampons on the rest of the day, thankfully. Trails were well established and bluebird skies made them easy to follow. Only trail complaint was coming back down the Ammo, some people decided to slide/sled down, which completely destroyed the established trails. If hiking this on Sunday after the impending storm, you will need full crampons because it looked like a bobsled track when I came down it. All in a a great day out and up!
