Comments
Comments: Did a half pemi loop from Lincoln Woods over Franconia Ridge to Garfield and back out Franconia Brook trail past 13 Falls Tentsite. All trails were in excellent shape all the way to the junction with the Franconia brook trial after Garfield. The sections between Liberty and little Haystack and also Lafayette and Garfield were slightly less traveled, but were still easily done without snowshoes. No postholing at all. The ridge was mostly rime ice and exposed rocks. Probably the least amount of ice I've ever seen up there for mid January. The segment of Franconia Brook trial between Garfield Ridge and 13 Falls was unbroken but still less than a foot deep so it was nothing outrageous. It was well packed from the tensite all the way home thanks to the overnighters.
