This was as easy as it gets. If you need Owl's Head for winter/January, go now. I bare booted to the bottom of the Brutus bushwhack then used light traction up and down until back on the Lincoln Woods Tr. Snowshoes could have been worn along some spots but the bushwhacks and sections of the trail are still bony. The track is packed and posholing wasn't an issue. I made the journey in less tha 7 hours. Nice to run into Hiker Ed along the way.
