| Comments: |
Perfect day and excellent trail conditions. Hard packed snow for most of the ascent and descent, blown nearly bare on the top. Microspikes were ideal for traction, noticed some tracks from skinning/skiing. As expected, top was exposed and windy, helpful to don extra layers upon leaving the trees. Stunning undercast. No bear sightings, but a notable bear fact is that black bears are not a true hibernating species. Rather, they enter into a period of reduced activity over the winter known as “Denningâ€, ursine hibernation, or carnivore lethargy. |
