Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All easy or bridged.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No blowdowns! The bog bridges along the Davis Path are very rotted. Tukerman Ravine Tr is still posted as closed along the headwall although we saw several people using it. Sill large patches of melting snow in the ravine.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A tough hike today for Marlie although she was quite popular on top of Washington. She developed a couple blisters on her paws from the rough rocks but did not seem to favor them. Lots of uphill and long miles. Be sure to bring dog friendly bug spray as the blackflies attacked her underside. Water is scarce above treeline so bring some for your dog. We saw no other four legged friends. Many people said they thought of bringing their dog but weren't sure how they would do.
Bugs
Bugs: Horrible around Glen Boulder and at the summit of Isolation. They seemed to be mostly concentrated around treeline. Down low and up high they were barely noticeable.

Comments
Comments: This hike started off as a hike to Isolation via Glen Boulder Tr. I had been curious as to why people would choose to go this way and regain over 1000' of elevation. The grades were surprisingly modest along the Davis Path making the climb out relatively easy. We could not stay more than 10 minutes on Isolation as the black flies were thick.

I figured that if I was going to climb back up to 5000' I might as well visit another peak, so we went to Monroe. Here I saw a man taking pictures. I recognized him from out hike up the Kinsmans on Sunday. We had a nice talk about spiders and flowers then parted ways. looking north, Washington was right there, so off we went. After cutting in front of all of the tourists, we crossed the summit and went to fill our water. We then took a nice deserved break on the upper Lion Head, and then headed down to Pinkham Notch. As I pulled out of the parking lot I looked back up towards the ravines and they were socked in clouds. We made it out just in time!
