| Dog-Related Notes: |
Piper and Cole did well . As winds picked up and at times felt like I could get blown down had them on leashes. Saw 2 other dogs doing well. It seemed the pups had an easier time than their human companions with the wind. |

| Comments: |
Relatively warm day and sunny skies. Wind picked up steadily as we summited Mount Lafayette. I had spoken to a hiker who did this route the day before who told me once we started climbing down Mount Lafayette on the FRT winds would decrease and she was exactly right. Fortunately saw some experienced hikers just below Lafayette coming down and told me wind speed would also decrease over the summit. That reassurance was helpful. Had the wind just been any higher we may have turned around but I thought that would have been more difficult to more wind exposure.
Going up to the hut conditions were beautiful trail packed down with some ice but light traction was fine. The ridge had some ice and snow but was thin. Going down Falling Waters Trail was beautiful with a well packed trail again light traction was fine. Snowshoes definitely not needed. The ice gladden falls were beautiful.
Another great hike with Lisa and Cole. |
