Comments: Beautiful day for a traverse! Saw about 6 other hikers today. Valley way is well packed. Above treeline is bony and there are lots of drifts. Snowshoes would be useful in some places, but the hassle of putting them on and taking them off and carrying them didn't seem worth it to me because of all the rocks. Some drifts are icy and you can walk over them nice and easy and others will eat your entire leg. Definitely post holed a bit today. Drifts make the trail from from Franklin to Eisenhower a bit difficult to follow, and we got turned around there. Franklin loop is also hard to follow after the summit. We basically broke trail from Monroe to Eisenhower. Coming down the south side of Eisenhower is well packed all the way to 302 via Crawford Path. My friend used an ice axe in edmond's col but I didn't need one.
