 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The widest one is at 1 mile. There is an awesome log for shimmying about 100’ upstream. On the way back I went the direct way and the questionable snow bridge held. Yay!! The other crossings are easier. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Lots of unders and over but none were a problem. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Lots of dog prints in the first mile (to the water crossing); none after that. |

Austin Brook Trail to Gentian Pond Campsite, and Dryad Trail to the falls
Some snowshoe tracks up to the water crossing around a mile in. After that there were some old boot tracks that were filled in with snow. Less boot tracks after the Dryad Falls turnoff and after I crossed that beaver area and started to climb, it was clear that no one had been up that way in at least a few days.
The views were awesome from Gentian Pond Campsite, and I headed back down (drat that full time job thing, LOL!!). I took a quick side trip to Dryad Falls and again the tracks were days (or more) old. The falls is pretty much frozen but the views out to Cabot and across to Speckled are ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜.
I wore snowshoes the whole way and it was just perfect conditions for them. I love, love this trail!!
It was a no-people day! |
