| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
5 other vehicles in Appalachia. Lot was plowed yesterday I think |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Wet Trail, Snow - Unpacked Powder |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
The significant ones are all bridged, many minor ones where there is open short sections of wet trail |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
So many, many very obnoxious blowdown patches on the Link between Lowe's Path and Israel Ridge Path and also on Cabin-Cascades Tr. These definitely require chainsaws/axes but just a delimbing with a hand saw would make them a bit easier to go over, under and around. |

| Comments: |
Lots of unbroken trails. I broke everything out except for the section of Randolph Path between Pentadoi and the connector to the Log Cabin and there was one set of older bootprints on Cabin-Cascade Tr. 4-6" of unbroken unconsolidated powder everywhere and lots of fir/spruce branches to kindly cover the back of the hood and get snow down the back of the pack. I have a lot of wet layers after completing this loop. A few sections of open, wet trail where some of the minor streams crossed the trail. Due to Gray Knob Cabin being closed for the winter, expect a lot less traffic on this side of Adams with lots of trail breaking required for each trip. |
