Comments
Comments: Avalon (1.3)- A/Z trail(1.0) was packed nicely with snowshoes. You could have easily worn snow shoes but also didn't have to as it was packed pretty well. Tom spur (.6) was in the same condition, packed out well enough. It was not packed to the view on the 'other side' of Mt. Tom.

The Willey Range (2.5)to Mt. Field and Mt. Willey was well traveled but not well packed. There were a lot of people out on the trail that day but most wearing micros and not snowshoes. So, the snow was a bit loose and you could 'heel twist/spin' if in micros, but it was clearly broken out. The drop downs/mini chimneys in between Field and Willey had some ice and was exposed from buttsledding and slipping, so take caution.
The top of Avalon between Willey range and the sign/spur was nicely packed down and a nice cruise.

The top of Avalon is sweet and nicely packed. (1.0). The spur to Avalon (100 yds) is a hot mess and a bit beat up with a mix of scattered snow, and ice and exposed rock, but with some caution, still able to get up and down. The steep .5 section of Avalon below the summit connecting to the main Avalon trail was a little beat up with the amount of traffic and slow going with exposed rock and ice.

The bottom section of Avalon (1.3) was a cruise.
