Wore microspikes for the entire hike, heading up to the ridge via Falling Waters and down Old Bridle Path. Falling Waters was mostly well-packed snow, but some very icy sections near the waterfalls. Felt like microspikes were essential for traversing those sections. Up on the ridge, the snow and ice was more sparse, but just enough ice to keep the spikes on. OBP was a nice descent, mostly packed powder but still a little ice.
Parking lot was about 2/3 full both at 10AM arrival and 3PM departure. Amazingly calm and clear day up on the ridge. |
