 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Room for two cars at the trailhead, but only if one car is blocking the other. Since we were hiking together, that wasn't an issue. According to the WMG, there's another parking area a little bit up the road. |

Dry Trail, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
None on this trail. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The trail is well blazed and well constructed. A few sections of the climb up the ridge were gravelly and getting eroded - more stone steps would help there. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
They should be fine. |
|
 | Bugs: |
None. |
|
 | Lost and Found: |
Found a small black glove part-way up the trail. We put it on the mailbox at the trailhead. |

Spur of Gardner Mountain
Part 2 of our redlining adventures today was a short but steep jaunt up Lone Oak Trail outside of Woodsville (technically in Bath, but near the border with Haverhill). Trail was basically dry in the lower half and had a dusting of snow in the upper half that was easily barebooted. No traction is needed.
The trail had mostly good footing, but don't underestimate the steepness - getting up the trail is a workout even though it's only 0.8 miles long. The views of Woodsville and the surrounding mountains from the viewpoint are incredible though.
One last thing - we weren't sure exactly which tree the namesake lone oak was. There were several large oak trees near the viewpoint, but none of them were the only oak in the area. |
