Room for maybe 4 cars at the trailhead. The police seem to be patrolling the roads in the vicinity of the trailhead, so be careful not to speed. |

The entire trail was basically just an old logging road. There was a sign at the trailhead but no blazes. Several sections were wet, and I suspect they would be mudpits in the spring. There was no sign indicating where the official trail ended. |

At the cairn marking our turn-around point, there was a New Hampshire license plate - 4898. It had to have been put there fairly recently, since it had a blue 2021 sticker on it. We left it there. |

Part 1 of our redlining adventures today involved hiking Cobble Hill Trail. Conditions were similar to those on Jericho Road Trail last weekend - a logging road, a dusting of snow, some (but not too much) ice. There were a few places where the logging road was a river of ice, and some people might want the security of spikes, but it's possible to bareboot the whole trail by going around those spots. There was no sign marking the end of the official trail - there was just a small clearing at the height of land with a small cairn on the side. But what really told us it was the place to turn around was that there were tire tracks in the snow, coming up from the road on the other side. The tracks stopped at that clearing. So we turned around there.
There are no views from the trail, so this trail is essentially a glorified logging road walk. But it was still a nice outing in the woods. |
