It was a nice sunny new years day with blue skies and no wind. The trails were covered in packed powder with some patches of ice underneath. Microspikes were helpful and snowshoes were not needed. This may change after the snow coming this weekend. I started up the mountain early, so I was able to have some time alone at the summit to admire mount tripyramid, osceala, and washington. I headed down the sossman trail afterwards towards the ski area. There was a great view of moosilaukee along the way. I turned around once I received the ski slope. As I was heading down the mountain there were many, many people heading up! I think that I prefer this trail in the winter. |
