 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Arrived at the trailhead around 8:15am today and was the only car there. Trailhead parking lot is off Reed Road (turns from paved to dirt). It’s a good sized lot on the left as you’re driving up the dirt portion of Reed Road and is marked with signage and a trail map kiosk. Lot was plowed. |

 | Comments: |
We made this a loop by descending via Glidden Road after summiting Mount Rand. The hike begins a little further down Reed Road just past the last house (just passed the “no parking†sign).
The hike up Reed Road (unmarked) was fairly easy to follow without blazes and many folks had packed it down. The blue blazed Reed Road Trail will be in the woods on your right. The Ridge Trail (white blazes) was very easy to follow, but as mentioned above could use some fresh paint.
Conditions were a mix of dry trail, wet trail, ice, and snow. Spikes went on just before turning onto Reed Road Trail and stayed on the rest of the hike to avoid taking them on and off between the patches of dry trail and ice/snow. No need for snowshoes today - trails were well packed. |
