| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at Beaver Brook XC area. Plenty of space here even though lot was fairly busy (8-9 cars) when we arrived at 7:30. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Both crossings took some care, since water levels were high, snow/ice bridges had not formed, and many rocks were ice-covered. However we were able to find routes across fairly easily |

A few blowdowns/step-overs on Gale River Trail and one on Garfield Ridge Trail |

| Comments: |
Took XC ski trail to Gale River Road and then walked on road to trailhead (about 1.2 miles in total). Not enough snow for XC trails to be skiable so we did not have to worry about walking in ski tracks. Barebooted to first stream crossing, then wore rock spikes for a while until switching to sharper spikes. Thin snow cover down low, gradually increasing as we ascended. There is a fair amount of ice on the trail. Snow shoes not needed yet, but that obviously could change. |
