Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The first significant river crossing at 0.8 miles was rock hoppable, if you were also willing to trust some of the thicker ice floes surrounding the rocks. The higher water crossing 1.5 miles looked worse, but was stable-ish to cross

Comments
Comments: My 11-year old and I decided to do Hale today as I am working on my SSW 48. Conditions on Hale Brook were good-ish (I have never been a fan of the narrow side hill portion of Hale). There was definitely ice out there and you need microspikes. But, it was somewhat better than what I had been expecting. There is one large ice bulge less than 0.1 from the summit that took some thought and wiggling to get around.

As noted above, the water crossings were challenging. But we felt like they were doable.
