Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: First (last) water crossing on A-Z trail was tricky. Wide, high frozen water with breakable crust. Spikes and waterproof shoes helped as did a fallen log. Dog was lured across with a treat.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Blowdown on Ethan Pond Trail required a hop to get over. Anything else was easy to get over or under, depending on your height.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: My dog had fun despite hesitating at the water crossing. Lots of dogs out today, 8 I think.

Comments
Comments: Stellar no wind day. The hike up was spectacular with the sky glowing orange even once I reached the peak of Mt. Willey. Saw no other hikers until Willey Range Trail and so many on Mt. Field and heading down that I lost count. Barebooted until the AT split then used microspikes the rest of the day. Trail was beautiful between Willey and Field. The ladders were no problem to get over. Grey Jays were out. Also saw/heard Black capped chickadee, Hairy woodpecker, and White-breasted nuthatch.
