| Date of Hike: |
Tuesday, December 29, 2020 |
| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Hammond is limited to 3-4 cars, however very little traffic on this route, everyone else was on the piper loop, so it was very quiet |
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Ice - Blue, Ice - Breakable Crust |
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
the 2 brooks crossing were very easy, 1st one is a balancing act along a 8 foot long 12" fallen tree..the poles helped... |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Great shape....going up to bald the leaf pack is crazy thick in some spots from the heavy rain |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
oddly, no dogs today. I would not take a dog on this route until we get more snowpack. On the ledges there is blue ice with .5" of powder |
| Bugs: |
all frozen or blown away |
| Lost and Found: |
everyone was holding on to their stuff today |

| Comments: |
Nice hike with no real challenges until after the cabin. Here you will find some steep ledges sections with blue ice and light snow covering, a slip in some spots could be very bad. We even found out what the metal spike in the middle of the trail was for, a grip to help haul yourself up/down, on a very challenging ice section. Summit had a small crowd on the top but not bad for this mountain. |
