Comments
Comments: With all of the rain from Dec 25th, we opted to go up from the Waterville Valley side to skip river crossings.

Livermore Tr was a combo of bare earth and patches of ice and light snow. Scaur Ridge Tr had trace amounts of snow and more ice further up. We were able to bare boot all the way to the junction of Pine Bend Brook Tr. There were some water crossings but they were stream sized. Easy to get over. We put microspikes on for the summit cone of North Tripyramid. There was a lot of ice buildup heading up. At times we were able to go up the rocks, other times we used bypass routes.

From North, we went over to South, where there was a combo of ice and some minor snow drifts. We used the drifts wherever they were for better traction down North and up South. The ridgeline in between was mostly just light snow. On the return trip, my girlfriend switched over to crampons and I stuck with microspikes on the way down North Tripyramid side. I had to be more nimble and use every bypass route available to get around the numerous icy segments while she didn't have to worry about it as much.

Once back to the junction of Pine Bend Brook Tr and Scaur Ridge Tr, she switched back to microspikes. We kept the spikes on for Scaur Ridge Tr and a decent ways down Livermore Tr. A light amount of snow had fallen and concealed the numerous icy areas so keeping the spikes on for longer on the descent was the wise thing to do.
