Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found: a dog harness and brown leash - found right where the trail opens up to the falls. We hung that on a post at the kiosk in the lower parking lot. Found: a set of two small keys, on a single key ring, hanging up on a tree in the first 0.25 mile of Arethusa Falls Trail. We have the keys and would love to send them to the owner. Looks like the keys belong to a padlock or bike lock (definitely not a house key). Email me for info! **Will post in the Lost and Found in the White Mountains FB group too

Comments
Comments: Socked in today so kept things low-key. We were the first boot prints on Bemis Brook Trail ascending (some fresh snow, less than an inch, led to this conclusion). Started off without spikes but put them on soon after starting Bemis--there's some thick icy portions. Other areas have just snow or just a little ice, but spikes were a must. If you have an older pair that you don't mind dinging up, the conditions are perfect for those. My micros are 3 years old and look no worse for the wear today, but I do still cringe when I hit big rocks with them on. Gear is precious.

Saw a collection of folks today, ranging from bareboots to full crampons. Weird conditions out there, just stay safe!
