Comments
Comments: Bare boots were fine on the Mack Ridge trail. Some snow here and there, a few inches deep on the ridge itself, a few slippery spots in places but nothing worth putting on traction for. Obvious signs throughout of a previous hiker, tractionless, slip-sliding down. After 4 hours getting up the Mack Ridge, we had run out of time, so we took the auto road back down. Spikes would have been nice coming down--snowmobile treads have made it icy in many places--but it's manageable without spikes. Poles were helpful, up and down.
