Comments
Comments: I love this route. It was packed trail (bareboots by the dozen) up the road and then up the trail to the Ripley Falls spur. After that it was multiple snowshoe tracks (so nice packed monorail) up to the Willey Range Trail split (1.9 miles). After that it was one snowshoer before me (I wore my snowshoes all the way.). There was 4-6” new or drifted powder but I could see where he/she was stepping so that helped. The bog bridges are super tricky so be careful!
After the Ethan Pond Shelter spur it was pure and unbroken. Mostly it was about 12-16” powder but I was up to my hip a bunch of times. I was hoping to make it to the Shoal Pond split but had to turn back about 0.2 before it (I was running out of time to get to work). It was glorious. You can see Mount Willey from the backside, and this whole section is just pristine. No one was in the parking lot when I parked and only two other cars when I returned. I don’t know what will happen with Thursday/Friday rains but right now it’s glorious!! Stay safe!!
