Comments
Comments: I saw the forecast and couldn’t pass up the opportunity for a December trip across the ridge. My husband hadn’t been up there since 2019 and my 2 friends have never been before and wanted to wait until the crowds died down. I think we only saw about 15 people all day, not being officially winter yet and a 9 degree start may have helped keep the numbers down. We put the snowshoes on at the trailhead and used them up Falling waters until Haystack, the televators are the best. The trail is well packed out and some we saw were managing fine with spikes. This was our first snowshoes hike of the season and it was a good run with my new Tubbs VRTs. We all switched to spikes for the trip across the ridge and kept them on for the trip down. Mixed bag of drifts, bare rock and packed snow going across. Things were packed out with no postholing by us on the way down. Trail is in great shape . Get out there while this winter wonderland is here.
