| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Surprisingly busy for two days before the winter solstice. But there was still space. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow/Ice - Postholes |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
The three crossings we took have somewhat tenuous ice bridges. Easy to cross but I was concerned on one. They held for many people but there was movement and cracking sounds. I cannot speak to the first two crossings. People reported the first two crossings were difficult but I missed those with the bushwhack.

| Comments: |
The trail was already broken in at 8am. A perfect day for a hike. Our team wore show shoes (except the one that broke) but we saw many with spikes. I recommend against microspikes because there were a number of large postholes and a few in center trail. The engine hill bushwhack is well traveled but there is not one trail. There were dozens of branches off so you do need to have a sense of direction and a map to get through. |
