Comments
Comments: About 3 dozen hikers reached the summit today, so the trail is somewhat consolidated. Snowshoes are recommended on the bushwack, Isolation Trail and Davis Path. Spikes are ok on the lower portion of Rocky Branch. The Engine Hill Bushwack was tracked out with a few different meandering threads of trail between elevation 3200' and 3300'. All are through open woods and glades with two threads ending on the Isolation Trail at just above and below 3200'. So, take your pick on a route. They all end up a the same place. The bypass around stream crossings 2 and 3 is tracked as is the trail across the stream crossings. There are still a lot of rocks in the trail not fully covered in snow. And many small sections of exposed trail bed with running water. And some mud and slush which should freeze up overnight. Perfect day to be out. Bright blue skies and zero wind on the summit.
