Was itching to ski and needed FF for the redline so we headed down after whipple and found just enough snow for a very pleasant, quick ski out to the falls. about 5-6" fresh powder from the storm. There was an established ski track from several folks earlier today to the bridge at 1.8 miles. The only tracks beyond the bridge was someone dragging in a sled to camp. Osseo was well broken out. Black Pond was untracked as was Franconia Falls. FF was a bit bony but skis still worked until the last .1 where the trail gets rougher and steeper close to the water. I kicked the skis off and booted up to the "end of trail sign". There was some ice here under the snow. We made it back to car just before illumination was needed. |
