Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Got there just past 3pm and was able to get a spot in the lot directly across from the trailhead. The road in was fine.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All crossings were easily rock hopped
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The Mount Tecumseh Trail is regularly blazed in yellow. Well trodden and easy to follow, there is one small but pesky blowdown in the part of Mt Tecumseh Trail above where Sosman Trail breaks off from it. It was small enough that it may be able to be handled with a handsaw I believe.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Should be a fine trail for dogs although we didn’t see any.
Bugs
Bugs: Oddly enough it think that one of my friends said he saw a bug flying in front of him 😂 That definitely happened on one of these hikes this weekend.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: There was a red bandana left on the trail.

Comments
Comments: After our group of 4 hiked Whiteface and Passaconaway in the morning, 3 of us went over to bag Tecumseh too. This was my 8th 4000 footer this month and my 15th for December in total. This officially grid out Tecumseh for me; it was also my first “intentional” 4000 footer :)

Minimal snow depth with some wet trail mixed in down low but we chose to just put our spikes on at the car and they stayed on until our return. No need for snowshoes and the trail was much smoother and seemed to have gotten more snowshoe traffic than Whiteface and Passaconaway did. No ice so probably could’ve gotten away without the spikes. That said, the upper 0.3mi of Mt Tecumseh Trail was clearly only receiving half the traffic that the other portion of trail gets. Sosman Trail, to the summit and to the ski area, was also broken out.

We parted ways at the top due to time constraints and different plans of descent but we did meet one other guy ascending in the dark. Made it back to my car just before 6pm.
