Comments
Comments: Nice hike of one of my favorite 48's. I was able to bareboot until Engine Hill BW at which time snowshoes went on and stayed on until returning to that point. Snow levels varied from a trace to a foot. Rocky Branch to BW range from bare ground with water flowing to frozen postholes. This section would be great for the "back up" spikes.
Trails above this point are nicely broken out and decent cover on Isolation Trail/Davis Path. Engine Hill BW was not broken out but for the most part followed the 3200 ft contour line and came out just about right. My path could definitely use some clean up as I meandered in spots. The glades were beautiful and there were heavy signs of moose activity everywhere. The summit of Mt Isolation is virtually snow free. I met one other hiker on the way out.
