Hiked up Mt Pemi trail and down Indian Head. There's about 12 inches of snow on the upper section of the mountain. Mt Pemi trail was well packed. We only used microspikes the whole way up. Coming down Indian Head trail, it was evident that it has been less traveled. The trail was broken, but it didn't look like anyone has used snowshoes on that trail. The whole trail is kind of a sloppy mess, but the snow isn't too deep so I can see why many people are bare-booting it. We started down it in microspikes, but then changed to snowshoes to start packing it down. If it freezes the way it is it will be quite hazardous. |
