Nice quick out and back with excellent 180 degree views from Moosilauke to Chocorua. Small summit area with cairn doesn't accommodate many, but there are other areas near the summit with good views to hang out if it is busy. Not too busy today though. Also a nice southerly outlook 1.5 miles up with great views over Squam and Winnipesauke lakes. Mostly leaves for the first mile but then turns to soft, shallow packed snow and some icy slabs. While not required, definitely recommend traction - we wore spikes for the top 60%. |
