WEAR YOUR SNOWSHOES.
A fine day in the forest. Today's plans started off like when you're at a restaurant and your eyes are bigger than your stomach. Original plan was a Zealand Bonds - ha. ha. ha. Though we did begin the day with WMNF hiking royalty - the Foote's (Grid finishers #26). It was a good snowshoe shake down day. Zealand Road has a lovely trough that hasnt been rototilled too heck just yet. Zealand Trail is maddeningly boney at this time, were is the snow? We had snowshoes from Sugarloaf on the way in to 302 on the way out. Lots of mash potato fun and snow bombs galore from above. At the hut we made a group decision to pass on Z/B and go for Hale as several needed it for their grids - especially with no views and weather coming in. It was the right choice. Lend A Hand has been broken our proper with SNOWSHOES. Postholio did a lovely job on Hale Brook Trail, we tried to fix it until tomorrow when they return. Also - we bushwhacked the switchbacks - because we love cheap thrills. With the freezing rain tonight, the trails should freeze up lovely. |
