Fresh half inch of snow on Airline. Someone recently postholed, but I packed it down. Once above tree line on the ridge of King Ravine, I broke a trail and encountered several deep drifts. Had to switch from snowshoes, to crampons, and back to snowshoes and crampons again. The AT portion above the ravine had deep drifts requiring snowshoes. Deep snow in the tree line heading down to the Madison Spring Hut. Lots of postholers using Valley Way, and a few of us snowshoers packing it down. |
