Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The lot at the 7 Dwarfs Motel was not plowed. Not sure if he plans to offer parking for a fee again this year. We parked near gate for Haystack Rd. & followed one set of tracks for a while before they turned off or around. Lots of space available at Beaver Brook.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Unpacked Powder, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow - Wet/Sticky
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water levels were high & running fast. We avoided the first 2 crossings by sticking to the herd path. We ended up turning around at the final water crossing, which looked challenging. Most likely, it would have been a wet crossing.

Comments
Comments: Disappointing day for sure! We’d planned to park at the motel but that didn’t work out. Long slog to trailhead, which had partial snow shoe tracks; the trail was pristine & unbroken. Wet, sticky snow balled up on our snow shoes. There were just 2 of us & it took much longer than anticipated to reach the river crossing. By the time we reached the last water crossing, we’d decided that today just wasn’t our day so we had a snack by the river & turned back . ☹️
