I was still able to drive on Kings Hwy to the point of the Summer Maintenance Signs at Jett Rd. with my 4 wheel drive truck. Could be sketchy if we get more snow. |

The Barney Brook is overflowing Jett Rd but can be negotiated with care. Barney Brook is bridged on the Barney Brook Trail. |

Quite a few blowdowns from recent storms but they can be avoided. |

Did a loop going in on Jett Rd and then the old unmaintained MSG up to the junction with Barney Brook Tr. (This trail is labeled as the "Blue Trail" on some maps. The MSG now has been relocated to BBT and the blue blazes have been repainted white from Jackson Hill to the Kings Hwy). On return from Jackson Hill I crossed the "Old" MSG (this junction is signed) and followed the "New" Barney Brook Trail back to the Kings Hwy. and then back to where I parked.
Trails were overloaded with animal tracks this morning: Fox, Bob Cat, Rabbit, Deer, and Moose. Another pleasant walk in the solitude of the forest. |
