Stretch goal was to do the Belknap traverse. But there was a lot more snow than I expected. a foot on average, some drifts up to knees along "ridgeline". Started at Mt Major end. Well booted out thru Major. Major to Straightback was initially single booted out, and well booted by end of day. Straightback to Anna, nobody had been there. My mistake was thinking there wasn't much snow that far south so I didn't bring snowshoes. Postholed over to Anna. Slow going. Single booted over to Anna and Mack, but still rather postholing. Moral of the story is - snowshoe season has started. Don't leave home without. |
