Comments
Comments: My girlfriend and I started the day expecting to do an out and back to Flume on Flume Slide. Once we reached the steeper section of Flume Slide, we found the deep loose powder extremely difficult to climb even with 25” MSR Ascent snowshoes and realized it would be too dangerous to descend. We should have turned back on then, but instead kept going and by the time we wanted to turn around, we figured it was more dangerous to descend than to keep going and do the loop. We strongly recommend avoiding Flume Slide until the snow is firmer. We snowshoed to Liberty, but to move faster and get down the steep section of Liberty Spring by dark we had to forgo trail etiquette and use microspikes. Next people up, please forgive us as you cover our tracks.

We didn’t see anybody else, but we followed the footsteps of somebody who appeared to do the same loop bareboot without poles and without leaving any evidence of difficulty. We covered their post holes on the way up.
