I had a random work day off today and figured I would carry the winter pack including snowshoes to try to get in shape for the season ahead. Only about 20 degrees at the trailhead and a beautiful winter wonderland to hike through. Trail is well packed out. I put on my spikes at the start and wore them all the way up and back. The snowshoes got the easy trip, on my back. Had I encountered drifting or postholing, I would’ve put them on but like the 4 or 5 others I saw, we all just carried them. Another decent snowfall and the rocks and roots should be completely buried making the shoes more useful. Great day getting Tecumseh done for December. |
