Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Nearly empty lot. Rare for this peak.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The only significant water was on the Jesus Valley Beaver Pond trail, where there was indeed a pond in the middle of the trail.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: All the major (no pun intended) trails were well maintained, though the Straightback Mountain trail had an enormous blowdown on it, and the JVBP Trail could use some drainage at the pond.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Easy dog trails.
Bugs
Bugs: None.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Plenty of lost belongings, and trash, littered the main trails. The amount of masks was ridiculous. For how "serious" this mask thing is, people sure have no problem discarding them on the forest floor...

Comments
Comments: Couldn't make it to the Whites today, so I opted for a local hike! I'd never been off the main trails on Mt. Major before, but found the hike to and from Straightback to be very pleasant. Shoulder season conditions persist on the trails, and there are the occasional spots of ice, use some logic to bypass them and you'll be fine.
